How To Wear Perfume

Discovering years ago, that most people don’t understand how to apply perfume well, from time to time I write tips on how to, so you can get the best oomph and longevity from your fragrances.
Perfumes made from native materials are not like ( the majority of what’s out there) big brand and department store perfumes. They don’t have a huge projection into the atmosphere, nor last at the same strength for hours on end. So if that’s what you expect, and want, botanical perfumes are probably not for you.
Why would you want a perfume made with naturals, then? Perhaps because you want something without synthetic chemicals ( the majority of what’s out there), because you want the rose in your perfume to be from real roses and not an apparition constructed from phenoxanol, benzophene, Romanol, geranyl formate, rhodinyl acetate or rose oxide, to name a few.
Creating with only naturals is expensive. So also, if you’re accustomed to and expecting the same prices & volume, natural perfume might surprise you. Also, it can be confusing to see fragrances marketed as perfumes, which are really simple blends of essential oils. They do cost less. They may smell pleasing, but lack structure, depth, height, dimension originality, and, the years of work that go into creating perfumes.
Firstly, don’t apply to inner wrists or, rush to smell the perfume immediately after spraying.Instead, apply to the backs of wrists (different and better pH). Don’t rub and scrub your wrists together, just move them back and forth through the air for a little while, then smell. And don’t stop there. Perfumes evolve and reveal different facets as the more volatile, diffusive notes evaporate.
Best application points : backs (not insides) of wrist; just below ears in the hollows; décolletée; hairline.Don’t use scented laundry products or highly fragrant toiletries, especially ones with synthetic fragrances, as they’ll alter or obliterate your perfume, especially if it’s made entirely with natural materials, as is Tender Flower perfume.
If your skin is dry, apply a neutral carrier oil first, such as jojoba or meadowfoam.
Keep perfumes in a very cool, dark place, or in the fridge, making sure the sprayer top is very tight, and capped.Bedtime is a delightful time to wear TF perfume, not for seductive purposes, but actually to create a lovely sleeping space, for the qualities of substances have different effects, attracting benevolent or not so, subtle presences.Lastly, don’t expect botanical perfumes to behave as those found in department stores. Aromachemicals are powerful, some with a presence and persistence that can last for days and days.Lots of people like that. I don’t. To my thinking, scent is the most ephemeral, etheric expression of a plant, and, why should a perfume strive to become a statue, solid and indelible?Enjoy the fragrances, receive their beauty, and let them go, just as we watch the flowers come into bloom, share their gifts, then quietly fade away.
